Such a writer will have to use a variety of different techniques such as conceptual comparisons, vivid descriptions, reflective analysis, persuasive rhetoric, argumentative examples, and narrative.
The media tends to focus on current political events, but one should not write an argumentative essay solely on the basis of the last election. It is true that people tend to gravitate towards the candidates who share their views, but it is also true that there may be a lot of people who have changed their minds between election cycles. So, it is wise to do comparative studies to see how people view various public figures and then choose your examples and points of view based on the results. Arguments are commonly presented in different ways depending on the audience for whom they are intended. In most democratic topics papers, there is a focus on rhetorical strategies to convince the reader or audience that the argument is a plausible one. This helps avoid arguments that sound contrived, because it creates a sense of reality. There are also general strategies to present complex ideas in a manner that does not take up too much time. Democratic topics can be about the environment, the economy, health care, education, crime, poverty, politics, religion, or the justice system. In addition, the topic can vary from high school students to middle-aged adults. The media plays a major role in motivating people's opinions; therefore, it is important to use whatever tools available to the audience to show them why they should support the arguments being made. The writer should use different tools and tactics in different cases to get the desired effect. Some of the most common arguments are borrowed from a range of political science fields, sociology, sociology of science, public policy, and psychology. One of the reasons why an argumentative essay can seem appealing is because it brings together a diverse group of concepts and points of view to form a coherent, fact-based statement. Many people like the idea of the essay or political discussion; however, they often do not see it as a serious way to achieve political change. A personal essay can provide an engaging, yet intellectually stimulating way to get students involved. Students will learn from an argumentative essay that democracy is a legitimate form of government and should be supported by its citizens. The essay will help students understand how the ideas put forth in the argument are connected to real-world issues and how they have been used to form a credible body of knowledge. The essay will be a driving force that will encourage readers to critically examine their own views. Writing an argumentative essay is a way for a writer to make their ideas known. The ability to compare and contrast two or more statements or related ideas is an important skill for students to develop, as it is a key ingredient in the development of significant political ideas. To do this, students must develop a strategy to choose which example to focus on and why. Each point of view should be supported by well-constructed sentences and paragraphs and by a strong argument that has been carefully developed. Students will soon begin to realize that an argumentative essay is not an attempt to convince the reader. It is an attempt to persuade the reader of an idea based on an argument, which results in a carefully thought-out thesis statement.
